Lake Minnewanka, nestled in Banff National Park, is a stunning lake known dark blue waters, dramatic mountain backdrops, and rich history. Stretching 21 km, it’s the longest lake in the Canadian Rockies and a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering scenic boat cruises, hiking trails, and even scuba diving to explore a submerged ghost town. Whether at sunrise or sunset, Lake Minnewanka captures the raw, untamed beauty of the Rockies in every season. It's my favourite lake to photograph with endless space to explore and create, it’s a place where creativity flows as freely.

Moraine Lake is one of the most iconic and awe-inspiring locations in the Canadian Rockies. Surrounded by the majestic Valley of the Ten Peaks, this glacier-fed lake is famous for its striking turquoise-blue waters, which get their vibrant colour from the refraction of light off fine rock flour carried into the lake by glacial runoff. Due to its immense popularity and environmental preservation efforts, to reach this breathtaking location, visitors must plan ahead and reserve a spot on one of the park shuttles. These shuttles typically operate from late spring through early fall, with early morning departures highly recommended for catching that dreamy sunrise glow over the lake and avoiding the busiest times of day. Rockpile Trail is the best viewpoint.
